The Winner of Thailand's Survivor Program “BIG BROTHER THAILAND”
Announced

The curtains go down on the 106 day long survival program
People would flock around the water cooler every Monday since the program
went on air to talk about who was eliminated.
The episode that was aired on July 16 caught nationwide attention, since it
was the final episode where the winner was announced. The show was first aired
on April 2. The winner was to receive one million Baht, a luxury car and the
house the participants had stayed in for three months.
The final three were "Pim“, a university student, "Hahu”, a university
graduate and graphic designer, and "Tuei“, a motorcycle driver with only an
elementary school education. The winner for “BIG BROTHER THAILAND” was
”Tuei“.
Although "Tuei“ had the least qualifications when compared to his other two
competitors, 70% of Thailand voted for "Tuei”.
Survival TV shows have become massive hits in Europe and the United States,
but “BIG BROTHER THAILAND” was the first of its kind in Asia. A male and female
participants became love interests and their 'improper behavior' was shown on
TV, which raised issues of moral indecency.
It might be because Asian feel uneasy about living with total strangers and
exposing yourself twenty four hours a day through cameras that are installed
everywhere. -Lee Young
