Her Majesty Queen Sirikit was born on 12 August 1932. She is the
eldest daughter of the late General H.R.H. Prince Nakkhatrmongkol, Krommamun
Chandapuri Suranath and Mom Luang Bua Kittiyakara. She attended the kindergarten
class at Rajini School and then Saint Francis Xavier Convent School. Her Majesty
also took piano lessons and studied art, languages, history, and literature in
Switzerland. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej married her on 28 April 1950,
when she was bestowed with the royal title of Her Majesty the Queen. On his
coronation day, 5 May 1950, His Majesty elevated her to the full rank of
Queen. |

Royal Title 'Phra Borommarajininat'
When His Majesty the King entered the monkhood in accordance
with royal traditions from 22 October to 5 November 1956, he appointed Her
Majesty Queen Sirikit as Regent. She was only the second queen in Thai history
to hold this position. On December 5 in the same year, His Majesty the King
bestowed the title 'Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Phra Borommarajininat' on Her
Majesty, who became the second queen of the Royal House of Chakri to have been
honored with this title.
